Location
Reedley High School is located in the city of Reedley, California. Reedley, incorporated in 1913, has a population approaching 20,000 and is located in the heart of California, nestled at the foot of the Kings Canyon National Park. The beautiful Kings River flows through the community and offers a variety of recreational opportunities from boating, fishing, skiing, rafting, and swimming. More fresh fruit produce is grown and shipped from Reedley than from any other area of the world, giving it claim to "The World's Fruit Basket." Reedley High School is the only comprehensive high school of the Kings Canyon Unified School District and has an enrollment of about 2000 students. KCUSD is the third largest school district in Fresno County and its fifteen schools are spread over 600 square miles extending into the high Sierra mountain range. Each year Kings Canyon Unified buses travel the equivalent of 26 times around the world! |

History
Reedley High School was established in 1898, and the first classes were held on the second story of what was then the "old" Washington Elementary School. In 1922, Reedley High School moved in its present location. Growth and development remained continuous, and in 1935 West Hall was constructed to accommodate a junior college. From 1935 to 1957, the junior college and high school shared facilities, but in the spring of 1957 Reedley College completed the first phase of its expansion program and moved to its new campus on the Old Reed Ranch. This left the high school the sole occupant of a forty acre site with buildings and facilities for 1200 students. |
