Welcome Aboard! The faculty and staff of Reedley High would like to welcome everyone to the 2007-2008 school year. We hope you enjoyed your summer break and are ready for a challenging year ahead. We would like to extend a special welcome to our freshman class and all new students that may enter throughout the year. We anticipate a great year from our senior class The Class of 2008 and have high expectations of them to provide leadership, continued academic progress, and to continue the Pirate tradition of exemplary citizenship. |

On a personal note, I look forward to our continued work as a staff to identify and educate each student and give our students the best opportunity to graduate and choose their career path. I urge all students to attend school every day, study hard, and get involved in the multitude of activities that this institution has to offer. The Reedley High staff is committed to seek and implement best teaching practices based on data and to monitor the learning process to keep academic progress at the forefront. Parents, communications between the school and the family is something we truly value and are always looking to improve on. Please refer to the Pirate Log, Course Offering Catalog, the daily bulletin on the school web site, the Reedley Exponent, and the school marquee for sources of school information and upcoming activities. Also remember your access to the Power School website to view your child’s grades, assignments, and attendance from the convenience of your home computer. Your password is the same as last year. Speaking of attendance, we do have the AutoDialer up and running. The household will receive a call nightly to inform of the student’s absence that school day. We also have the technology to call the entire school population to inform of any emergencies or just reminders of news worthy information. We do value all e-mails, phone calls, and personal visits. However, it is recommended to call for appointments if at all possible. Our intention is to have positive, personal relationships with all stakeholders with the best interest of the students in mind. Parents, just a reminder, we would love to have you as our working partners. We have numerous parent groups and booster clubs for you to be involved in. This is a fantastic way to stay abreast of all that Reedley High has to offer. Please contact the school for more information if interested. I am honored to have added three new educators to my administrative staff this year. Former Learning Director Roberto Gutierrez will be joining Marc Sosa as my second Assistant Principal. Stacy Robb will assume the Learning Director position under the tutelage of John Ahlin. I also am fortunate to hire Israel Castillo for our new position of Coordinator of English Language Development. I am excited to see the willingness and “can do” attitude of these young educators. With their tremendous work ethic and vision, I feel that the future of Reedley High School is as bright as a comet. In closing, I want to say thank you to the many parent and community volunteers for their support of our Reedley High School. Go Pirates! Jeffery B. Wiggam |
