ROP COURSES
A+Certification (Computer Maintenance & repair)
This VROP cours trains students in the fundamental computer maintenance and repair and prepares students to take the A+Certification exam. Students will learn and develop entry-level skills utilizing classroom small/large groups interaction and lab training. The student will learn the workings of disk drives, computers, monitors, and printers, 2)operation of the test equipment, and 3)electronic fundamentals necessary to understand and services basic computer system. Prepares the students for the industry-recognized A+Cerification exam administered, at no charge, at the CISCO academy.
Ag Business Leardership
This valley ROP course is designed to introduce students to the business world as it relates to agriculture, the worlds largest business. This course will introduce students to the many facets of the business world from economices to managment, marketing, sales, and leadership skills needed to understand the basic, fundamental aptitudes of the business industry. Students will study various aspects of leadership including buyt limited to planning activities, public speaking, interpersonal skills, educational planning and career development.
Ag Const./Welding 1
This course is designed for the construction of farm equipment such as trailers, squeeze chutes, spray rings, and the repair of this equipment. Other areas of study are drill sharpening, rope work, tap and die, and pipe work. students will learn how to use wire feed welders and plasma cutters on stainless steel and alumium metals. FFA activities, supervised projects, and judgeing activities will be included
Ag Const./Welding 2
This is an advance course for those students interested in welding or other construction methods. Students will be able to bulid ranch equipment such as trailers, workbenches, and other tools used on the farm or in the agribusiness. FFA activities, supervised projects, and judgeing activities will be included.
Auto Mechanics 2
This Valley Rop class is concerned with the development of vocational skills practied in the automotive industry. Technical and service information taught includes the following: engine overhaul, carburetion and fuel injection service, electrical system service, and safety. About 80% of the class time is devoted to actual shop practice. Students work in groups of 4 and should have access to a car or an engine to overhaul.

This Valley Rop class is concerned with the development of vocational skills practied in the automotive industry. Technical and service information taught includes the following: Power Train, emission controls, brake system, suspension system, chassie, air conditioning, and career planning and saftey. Students work in groups of 2 and shaould have access to a car. About 80% of class time is devoted to actual shop practices.
This valley ROP course is design to develop an awareness of the various law enforcements occupation. The emphasis is palced on the development of attitudes skills, and competenices related to the criminal justices system in the U.S. THis course introduces the students to the study of crime and the administration of justice in the U.S. Th focus will be on the realites of law enforcement and apprehension at the federal, state, and local levels, prosecution, courts,, and the disposition of people charge with the commission of crimes. Throughtout this course writting skills and students' abilites to deal with people will be stressed
Floral Design 1
This course is designed to allow students to apply an artistic approach to floral design. Students will explolre elements and principles of design, two or three dimensional design, history of floral art, arrangements styles and techniques, seasonal, holiday and occasional design. Students will achive this thruogh creating, designing, identifying, explaning and evaluation of all topics of study.FFA activities, supervised projects, and judgeing activities will be included.
Floral Design 2
This valley Rop course designed to expose students to the floriculture industry on a more technical and advance level. This course will address the following topics:1) importence of the floriculture industry, 2) floral corps and their characteristics, 3)tools and equipment, 4) care and management of floral corps, 5) principles and elements of design, 6)seasonal, holiday and occasional, plant propagation, wedding and hi-style design. Students will develop and employability skills emphasized through this course
Inrto to Teaching
This course orients students to careers in teaching. It describes the role of teachers in public schools. It requires observation of teachers-pupil interaction, instructional approaches, classroom managment in elementary, secondary, and/or middle schools at schooll sites weekly. Student swill increase knowledge of demands and expectations of classroom teaching, general school operation, current issues and best practices affecting teachers, and basic concepts of public education.
Medical Terminolgy
This valley rop class is taught as part of the health careers patthway. It is a semester-long course and is taught in conjuction with first aid and safety. A component of the class will be to explore careers in health care through job shodowing, tours and guest speakers. The medical terminolgy course prepares students for entry-level position into numerous occupation in health care and gives the student a fundamental understanding of the human body. Students also learn combining forms, prefixes and/or suffixes, which enable them to understand and comprehend the language used in health care.
First Aid & Safety
This Valley rop class is taught as part of the health careers pathway. It is a semester long course and is taught in conjuction with medical terminolgy. A component of this class will be to explore careers in health care. The first aid and safety class certifies in American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety. Students will also learn how to triage and participate in mock disaster drills. Certification in American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety meets the requirements for various types of employment in the health care and other jobs.
Microsoft Office Specialist
This Valley rop course offers a clear step by step, screen by screen approach to learning Microsoft office XP skills. The student will demonstrate an understanding of at what level he/she comes into the classroom. Students will produce basic business reports using microsoft word, excel, Access, and Powerpoint. Upon successful completion of this course, students are eligible to take the MOS certification exam offered at no cost to them through Valley ROP CISCO academy
Environamental Horticulture
This course will provide the student with theories and principles related environmental horticulture science. This course is intended to successfully prepare those students who plan on majoring in agriculture sciences at a four year collage and/or university. Students will visit local junior colleges, agriculture business and horticulture industries in the area to view and research modern technology in the field of enviromental horticulture.
Pre-Certified Nursing Ass.
This approve department of health services pre-certification nursing assistant class includes classroom instruction and clinical hours in a long term care facility. The course of study is caring for the geriatric resident. A RN teaches and supervises the class. After successfully completing supervised study and hands on pratice, the student is eligible to take a california state exam for the certified nursing assistant license. Certifed nursing assistants are in demand at long term care facilites, hospital, assisted living, doctors' offices, and home health agencies.
This course provides entry level traning in the pastry and baking preparation field of food service. Students willl be introduced to variety of pastry and baking skills and introductory retailing pratices. Students will operate a bakery and coffee shop on campus.
Virtual business is a simulated business that is set up and run by students to prepare them for working in a real business enviorment . The student determine the nature of their business, its products and services, its mangaement and struture, and learn the daily operation of a business under the guidence of a consultant with the support of transaction.
Provides an introduction to fire protection. Presents career opporyunites in fire protection and related fields, philosophy and histroy of fire protection, fire loss analysis, oranization and function of public and private fire protection service, fire department as a part of local government, laws and regulation affecting the fire service, fire service nomenclature, specific fire protection function, and basic fire chemistry and physics.
This valley ROP course introduces students to the U.S. forest service (USFS) and prepares them with basic firefighting and conservation enrty level skills, as well as preparing them for (4) industry certificates. Classroom instruction, demonstration, and hands on field application will be given in basic firefighting, standards for survival, engine and pump operation, backfiring methods and equipment use, chainsaw operation, map and compass use, air opperations, basic hand tool sharpening and use. Students who are 18 upon completion of the class may apply for the USFS summer intern program and work as firefighters.
Work Place Exploration
This valley ROP course teaches practical interpersonal communication skills used in any work enviroment. The focus is on quickly peoviding students practical communication skills they will retain and use. The students also learn teabuilding. Through extensive exercises, students understand the different roles of members of a workplace team, and how the creation and execution of goals and objectives is one of the primary factors of team sucess.
Desktop Publishing/ Web Page Design

Desktop Publishing: learn how to design and develop publication by combining text, graphics, and computer design elements using Publisher 2000 and adobe Photoshop elements software to create announcements, flyers, brochures, calanders, web pages, and newsletters on pc's.

Web Page Design: Learn the essentials for web page content, design and development. Learn the basics of Hypertext Markup Language formatting, tables, and frames in creation software on pc's.
